Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Northwest Corridor Express Lanes

On September 12, 2018, we celebrated the opening of the opening of the Northwest Corridor Express Lanes at a ribbon cutting ceremony held at SunTrust Park (Lot 29) overlooking a section of the new lanes!

During the ceremony, SRTA’s Executive Director, Chris Tomlinson, shared his excitement for the new project alongside federal and state elected leaders and transportation agency officials.

“As word spreads of the time savings, our Peach Passes have literally been flying off the shelves,” he said as he described the momentum that is steadily rising as more motorists are riding the lanes for the first time.

He also reported that the lanes saw about 5,500 trips on opening day and 18,000 on the following Tuesday.

“I have¬†already gotten great reports back from people who have utilized it as to how it speeds up their commute,” stated Gov. Nathan Deal as he discussed the success of the lanes.

This infrastructure project is the largest of its kind in Georgia history adding approximately 29.7 miles of express lanes along I-75 from Akers Mill Road to Hickory Grove Road, and along I-575 from I-75 to Sixes Road. Peach Pass customers are enjoying the new lanes for FREE for the first 14 days which began on September 8th, opening day.
